About 130 people, mostly irrigators, attended the Shepparton forum as part of the ACCC's inquiry into the operation of water markets in the Murray-Darling Basin.
Here are what some said before and during the inquiry:
“I'm here to know a bit more about the water market and what is going to happen in the future." Bernard Clancy, Conargo.
“We're here to learn more about the issues and what's happening." Robert and Marilyn Pell, Tatura.
“I'm here to support the water market. I think it works in the classic way and I don't want too much changed." Denis Tinkler, Jerilderie.
“We're calling for total transparency." Sam Birrell, speaking on behalf of the Committee for Greater Shepparton and Goulburn Murray Irrigation District Water Leadership Forum.
“The VFF's view is that if you own a certain percentage of water then it should be made public on the water register." Richard Anderson, VFF Water Council chair.
