The team competed in the Disabled category on Saturday, with Sam on skis and Matthew in the driver's seat.
They competed in the class as the pair both suffer from a degenerative condition in their arm.
But they are never going to allow it to hold them back.
“It's a great opportunity to race with my best mate and brother, so it is definitely something I can't take for granted,” Sam said.
“We like to consider it our home race, which is a great feeling. But it's all about having some fun together out on the water.
“No matter the conditions on race day we are always going to give it our best shot.”
Saturday's race was the third time the team has competed in the Southern 80, but it was the first time behind this boat.
“In the past we've used Matt's boat but I brought this new boat which is a little bit quicker,” Sam said.
“We're in love with the new boat even though we've had a few dramas trying to get it ready.
“We had to change the fuels prior to the event but everything ended up coming together.”
