GOULBURN Murray Cricket returns this weekend, not only from the Christmas break, but from a heat-enforced week off.
The round 10 games lost to the heat have instead been rescheduled, with those matches now set to take place on February 23.
This week will be the first day of two-day games for round 11 play, with another grand final rematch between Rochester and Kyabram Fire Brigade on the cards.
Fire Brigade has remained the side to beat in the competition, but Rochester has made a climb of late and finds itself in fourth place.
A win would steady Rochy's footing in the four, while also opening the door for other sides to take Kyabram out of top spot.
Echuca South will be hunting its third win of the year when it meets Cooma at home.
Cooma was the early bolter of the season, but has since fallen out of the four, while the rebuild of South looks to be on track as it starts to put some wins together.
Another victory could see South move to fifth, but Cooma will be desperate to get back into finals contention.
A local battle has an added element of intrigue as Echuca meets Moama.
A finalist last season, Echuca has struggled all season with just two wins, but a victory over their rivals from across the river would be a huge result.
Meanwhile Moama - dropped from last season's finals in controversial circumstances - could not have bounced back better.
It sits second on the ladder, just six points away from Fire Brigade.
If results go its way, Moama could easily find themselves sitting on top of the ladder at rounds end.
In the final clash of the round, third placed Tongala battle bottom placed BLU.
Tennis
GOULBURN Murray Lawn Tennis Association will be in town on Saturday, with both local sides hosting matches.
Rich River Rebels will be hunting their third win of the season when they meet top side Shepparton Hornets at Rich River, while Echuca/Rochester play second placed Numurkah Warriors.
Basketball
One big weekend could be all it takes to re-launch the Echuca Pirates.
The men's side know where they stand - they need two wins this weekend if they are to stay in the hunt for a top four spot.
It won't be easy - they are on the road in Castlemaine on Saturday, and to Bacchus Marsh on Sunday.
Both of these sides sit above the Pirates on the ladder, but could be winnable games if they get on a role.
And they will need to.
