And some of those missing players come from around here.
Do you know Bill Hicks?
He wore the maroon and blue in just four games, way back in 1921-22, and he came from Echuca.
And the Lions desperately want to make a connection with family and/or friends who might be able to provide them with his picture to help complete their collection of at least one image of every one of the “boys from old Fitzroy”.
They’re also looking for others from northern Victoria including Benalla's Fred Beeson (1924-25, two games), Euroa's George Pattison (1914-15, 1917, eight games), Tongala's Tom Laurenson (1929, two games), Yarrawonga's Tom Ledwidge (1936, 1938, six games), and Yarrawonga or Numurkah's Alby McDonald (1902-03, seven games).
If you have a photo of one of these players, please contact the Riverine Herald, who will be able to pass the photo on to the Fitzroy – Brisbane Lions Historical Society to help complete their collection and honour all former players.
The photos will be added to the collection of 963 photos on display in the museum.
