Despite going down, there were plenty of positives and small wins for our A-grade side on Saturday.
With a few players unavailable this week, everyone had to step up, work harder for one another, and take on extra responsibility across the court.
The encouragement and support shown by the girls all game was fantastic, and it really feels like we are beginning to gel together as a team.
In defence, Alicia Osborne and Mon Toppin had a huge task against a very strong GS, but they rose to the challenge and worked tirelessly all game, creating multiple turnovers and applying strong pressure in the circle.
Steph Barry and Ash Charlton also faced a tough challenge in the ring but handled it well, focusing on taking everything we’ve been working on at training and implementing it into the game.
A big mention also goes to Amelia and Ella from juniors, who stepped up into A-grade this week and fit in seamlessly.
Both girls played with confidence and composure, and we couldn’t fault their games.

B-grade: Blighty 28 def by Waaia 52.
This week, with a few of our girls unavailable, the team had to adjust, and they rose to the challenge.
In defence, Georgia Moody delivered an outstanding performance, positioning herself brilliantly to secure intercepts and rebounds, while Alex Barry provided strong support in the circle.
Emily Harvey stepped up from the under-17s at the last minute and made an immediate impact in wing defence during the second half.
Our mid-court worked tirelessly throughout the game, with Tess Lloyd, Sammy Watson, Carla Crossley, Dakini Hall, and Alicia Osborne doing an excellent job creating space and delivering strong feeds into the goal circle.
In attack, Megan Gull and Nicole Felmingham combined beautifully, building great momentum together, with Megan delivering precise feeds to Nicole in goals.
It was a tough contest against Waaia, but there were so many positives to take away.
Most importantly, it was a true team effort, with every player stepping up and contributing.

C-grade: Blighty 20 def by Waaia 40.
It must have been the weekend for other commitments, as we were also down a few regulars today.
However, it was great to welcome some new faces who stepped in seamlessly and fitted into the team so well.
C-grade went down 40 to 20 to a very physical Waaia side.
The girls stayed strong and continued to play their game until the very end, which was great to see.
We had the best first quarter for the season, playing a controlled and calm game.
We also had a few girls away, so we were very grateful to have Alena Lamour, Belle Grant, Carissa Godfrey and Georgia Brydon from C-Reserve bench.
Ruby Williams played a strong first game back in GK, getting lots of intercepts and rebounds.
Chook Watson put in another stellar effort, working seamlessly with Ruby in defence and showing grit until the last second of the game. Mikayla Collie played a great game in the mid-court, working tirelessly and always being an option down the court.
Down in attack, Rachel Bucholtz and Emma Brain had a hard day in the goal ring coming up against tall defenders, but as always kept working to gain favourable positions in the ring.
Mikayla, Emma and Rachel worked well together and was a great match up.
Krystle Winter had a good defensive game in WD and helped to control the game in C.
Alena Lamour put in a tremendous effort playing up in C-grade and was very consistent across WD, WA and C, and always made sure she was an option.
Well done to the girls for putting in 100 per cent for the whole game and playing our game throughout.
Another strong effort from the girls with plenty of determination, teamwork and encouragement across the court.

Tough game today with a few of our regular players out due to other commitments, but it gave some of our newer players a chance to step onto the court and really give it a crack.
Proud of the way everyone worked together, supported each other and focused on their personal goals throughout the game.
While the scoreboard didn’t reflect the effort put in, there were still so many positives to take from the match, growth, effort and determination right across the court.
Plenty to build on heading into next week.

Under-17s: Blighty 47 def Waaia 24.
The girls took away a huge win this week against the Bombers.
With a new attacking end our girls took a little while to adjust.
But going into the second half surged forward with confidence and discipline.
Amy Doherty once again was competitive and caused havoc for her opponent, backed up by a strong defensive game by Emily Harvey.
Amelia Hay was placed in GA and looked quite at home, shooting some lovely goals. Kyah Watson was on fire, accuracy on point.

Under-15s: Blighty 42 def Waaia 10.
Blighty under-15s produced an outstanding team performance on the weekend, defeating Waaia 42 to 10 in an impressive display of teamwork, pressure, and determination.
In the goal ring, Ella Charlton and Savannah Bain combined brilliantly, shooting accurately and working hard to create opportunities.
Lexie Hines also stepped up to the shooting role and made an excellent contribution, showing confidence and composure under pressure.
Through the mid-court, Emma Taylor and Sophie Pearn worked tirelessly all game, linking defence to attack with strong passing, speed and great teamwork.
Mila Bode stepped up moving from goalkeeper to wing defence showing versatility with pressure down the court and drive into the attack.
This midcourt effort helped Blighty maintain control of the match from start to finish.
In defence, Lily Petersen, Shelby Huckin and Leena Seely were relentless, applying constant pressure to Waaia’s attackers and creating plenty of turnovers.
Their strong defensive work played a major role in limiting Waaia’s scoring opportunities.
Blighty showed great discipline and teamwork across all four quarters, steadily building their lead with consistent play and positive communication on court.
The 42 to 10 result was a well-deserved reward for the team’s hard work and commitment, with every player contributing to a fantastic win.

Under-13s: Blighty 19 def Waaia 18.
Under-13s had a nail-biting win on Saturday against Waaia.
Every single girl stepped onto the court with a job to do and executed it perfectly, all while having lots of fun and supporting one another.
Darci Thomson was super accurate in GA and worked really well with Indi Bain, using her voice strongly on the court.
Oaklee Morrison, Isla Andrews, Jewel Winter and Gabbi (surname not provided) created plenty of options through the midcourt and worked tirelessly all game.
Our defenders have been putting in a lot of work at training, and it’s been great to see them taking feedback on board each week.
Their hard work definitely paid off in this game!

This week the minis came up against a strong Waaia side, but the girls showed great perseverance and all played very well together.
Eloise stepped out on the court after a few weeks away, and she played an incredible game clearing out and coming forward to the ball.
Keira showed how she could use her voice to direct play bringing the ball down the court.
Lindsey read the play well creating turn overs within the game from defence.
