Mathoura would come out full of fire in the evening clash, shocking supporters and the opposition with its best quarter of football in years.
Without a win since 2024, the Cutters blazed into the lead in the opening period, scoring more points in a half hour than they had in most full games in 2025.
Five majors went sailing through the sticks, and Mathoura took a 33-26 lead into the break.

Picola United has been one of the form sides and the Blues rediscovered that form after the break, wresting back control from the motivated Mathoura squad.
Picola kept the Cutters to a goal in the term and added four to reclaim the advantage 53-39 at half-time.
Another stifling defensive effort kept Mathoura scoreless in the third as the Blues got out by five goals and, though the host refound its form in the fourth, Picola United was able to win the final term four goals to three, sealing a 95-58 win.

Tyson Talty kicked two for Picola on his senior debut, as did Joshua Vallender and Caden Ratcliffes.
Logan Daniel was the Blues’ best coming off the wing.
Mathoura did not attribute individual statistics for the game, but will be buoyed by its best offensive result since June 2024.
The scoreline even got the Cutters off the base of the table, sneaking past Rennie on percentage.
For Picola, next up is a trip to winless Blighty, while Mathoura will be up against it, taking on leader Waaia.
