Held between April 7 and 16, the championships collect the best under-16 footballing prospects from across the country to showcase their skills in front of AFL talent scouts.
The competition features 10 state and club academies.
Although Victoria Country lost both of its games to Victoria Metro and the Gold Coast Suns Academy, Delamare shone in both games in the eyes of her coaches, topping the best players list in both games.
In a difficult defeat to the Suns, she slotted one of only two goals Vic Country managed for the match.
The top performances saw Delamare named Victoria Country’s MVP for the championships.
Returning Echuca United coach Jason Dennis had the opportunity to work with Delamare in his first stint at the club in 2024, when, as an under-14 prospect, she won the Goulburn Murray Girls League best-and-fairest medal and kicked 50 goals in an under-18 competition.
“Always knew she was going to be a great player,” Dennis said.
“She’d dominate, didn’t matter if it was girls or boys.”
Delamare was selected to represent Victoria Country after top stints playing with United and Bendigo Pioneers, at under-16 and under-18 level, in recent seasons.
Unfortunately, despite being her side’s MVP, Delamare wasn’t included in the All-Australian side for the championships, that squad selected by AFL talent development and club personnel.
Still, the Eagles star will have plenty more opportunities to show what she’s capable of in her remaining few years as a junior.
“She's on the right pathways as long as she keeps her head down in training and just keeps working hard towards the goal,” Dennis said.
“She'll be good for our group (this year).
“I'm hoping she plays more Bendigo (Pioneers) than with us, but depends on how that pans out.”
In the club’s season opener in the Central Victoria Football League at the weekend Delamare kicked all three of United’s goals in a 10-point defeat.
