Echuca Junior Football Club had three teams compete across the under-14 and under-16 division one matches, with two sides winning elimination finals.
In the under-16s, the Echuca Murray Bombers easily brushed aside Shepparton Bears by 48 points thanks to dominant second and fourth quarters.
Echuca trailed 16-12 at quarter-time before winning the second term 34-0 to suddenly lead by five goals at half-time.
The Bears kept the Murray Bombers goalless in the third, but didn’t make much of a dent on the margin, and Echuca ended the match in devastating fashion by kicking 4.7 to 1.0, culminating in an 11.12 (78) to 4.6 (30) win.
Macklan Dalziel led the way for the victors with four majors and was named in the best players with Beau Griffiths, Will Hatfield, Billy Sutton, Max Potter and Oliver Spring.
The under-16 outfit will now face Shepparton Swans in a preliminary final, the winner of which will take on Kyabram Bombers in the decider.
Echuca’s other division one elimination final winner was the under-14 Echuca Bombers, who defeated clubmates Echuca Murray Bombers by 21 points.
A Luca Micalizzi goal for the Murray Bombers in the second quarter — their only one on the day — saw the side only trail 15-8 at half-time.
But the Bombers would be the only scorers in the second half, adding another 2.2 to their tally across the third and fourth quarters to run out as a 4.5 (29) to 1.2 (8) winner.
Like the under-16s, the Echuca Bombers under-14s will also be up against Shepparton Swans in a preliminary final, with Shepparton Bears awaiting the winner in the grand final.
Meanwhile, in division two of both age groups, Moama was represented, though only one of its sides progressed.
The Moama Magpies will play in the under-16 division two grand final after they defeated a wasteful Shepparton United 4.4 (28) to 1.11 (17).
Jasper Hearn was responsible for two of Moama’s four majors on the day, also being named in its best alongside Darcy Mislicki, Benjamin Anthony, Ryan Mcrae, Chanze Egan and Kaiden Peace.
The Magpies now have a week off, awaiting the winner of the under-16 division two preliminary final between the Demons and Broadford Roos, with the grand final taking place on Sunday, August 23.
The club was unable to see both of its division two sides progress, with the Moama Magpies under-14s being knocked out by Broadford in a one-sided elimination final.
Harry Coates, Xavier Mai, Judd Sparey, Eli Dohnt, Oliver Jackson and Connor Richardson were Moama’s best in the 6.4 (40) to 0.4 (4) defeat.
