The Cats will be full of confidence heading into the away game against the Hoppers, coming off a big 27-goal win over North Bendigo last weekend.
The victory over the Bulldogs was LBU’s second win of the season, more wins than they had in the 2019 and 2021 seasons combined.
LBU coach Jess Hardess said it was great to have her side fighting it out for wins again.
“It’s fantastic. For the girls who have been here for a while it’s really nice for them to be able to be competitive,” she said.
“We’ve actually achieved a lot of things we wanted to tick off in this six-week period, so now it’s about building on that. Everyone is really starting to connect and gel with each other and it’s really working.
“These girls have been capable of this and for them to work hard and be this competitive is a testament to their attitude and their commitment to the game.”
Colbinabbin is 4-3 this season and sits in fourth spot on the ladder. Hardess said her side was looking forward to testing themselves against the Hoppers.
“Everyone is keen to see what we can do against Colbinabbin this weekend,” she said.
“We’re looking to maintain that competitiveness that we keep talking about.
“We want to keep ourselves accountable for errors that we make on court and make sure we play that mental game.
“We want to make Colbinabbin accountable for their errors too, if our defenders work hard we have to reward them.”
A victory on Saturday would see sixth-placed LBU move a step closer to finals contention and would also see the Cats notch up the most wins they have had in a season since 2017.
