Lockington-Bamawm United put its third win of the season on the board in round 13 of Heathcote District Netball League.
The Cats kept their faint finals dreams alive with a hard-fought win over bottom-of-the-table Heathcote.
Lockington got an early jump to lead by three at quarter-time, but couldn’t make much headway over the middle quarters.
That lead remained mostly steady through the second as the Cats took a 19-15 lead into the main break and the third brought more of the same, the three-quarter time score 29-25.
The Saints threw all they could at the hosts in the final term, but the Cats continued to hold firm, winning by five, 41-36.
Lockington (3-9) trails the finals places by two wins and, with only four games remaining on its schedule, one fewer than the sides around it, it looks an uphill climb for the Cats to make the top five.
To have any chance of an unlikely rise, Lockington will need to come away from Leitchville this Saturday with the four points as they take on the Bombers (2-1-8).
