All clubs have now held their club best-and-fairest nights, crowning the champion senior football and A-grade netball champions from performances across April to August, and in the fortunate case of some, September.
So, take a look at who’s performances were rewarded and scooped up the major club gongs across the Murray League’s topflight.
Cobram
Senior football: Tyron Baden
A-grade netball: Kristy Hitchcock
Baden’s Beasley Medal for Cobram’s senior football best-and-fairest should come as no surprise.
The 2025 senior runner-up was named in the best 18 times across 21 games in 2026, while booting a team-high 55 goals to pinch the club crown off Jackson Trengove.
Kristy Hitchcock’s starring year in the mid-court saw her claim the A-grade best-and-fairest.
Congupna
Senior football: Bryden Squire
A-grade netball: Sarah Spillman
Squire will surely be running out of space in the trophy cabinet after more 2026 silverware.
The Road’s premiership star was awarded best-on-ground in the grand final, and took out Congupna’s WA Farrell Memorial Trophy for back-to-back years.
While it was a glory-filled year in the football department, it was a tough year on court for Congupna’s netballers.
Spillman was a bright spark however as goalkeeper, claiming the Pamela Hueston Trophy as A-grade’s best, as well as a coach’s award to boot.
Deniliquin
Senior football: Will Henderson
A-grade netball: Makayla Finn and Amelia Seignior
The Rams’ A-grade netball saw Makayla Finn and Amelia Seignior tie for the A-grade best-and-fairest.
It was a somewhat successful year for the Rams, only narrowly missing finals by two premiership points.
Meanwhile in the football, Henderson overcame a runners-up finish in 2025 to secure the real silverware in 2026.
Echuca United
Senior football: Matt Lias
A-grade netball: Coby Morgan
In his second year back in the Murray League, Matt Lias has claimed a second best-and-fairest in a row at the Eagles.
He finished on 109 votes, nearly doubling the runners-up duo of Reece Sidebottom and Bailey Sawyer.
Defender Coby Morgan took out the A-grade best-and-fairest with 28 votes, eight ahead of second place.
Finley
Senior football: Jack Sexton
A-grade netball: Daisy Daniel
In his fully committed season to the hoops of Finley, Jack Sexton’s state league experience proved valuable as he soared to a best-and-fairest win in the Cats’ count.
The Cats were close to finals with Sexton’s influence, ruing multiple single-digit losses that a couple kicks otherwise could’ve seen Finley fight in finals in September.
Finley recorded two wins in the A-grade netball this year, but Daisy Daniel blossomed as a reliable mid-courter in any wing or centre spot.
Moama
Senior football: Toby Thoolen
A-grade netball: Eesha Clark
Centre Eesha Clark nabbed the Mowers’ A-grade award after the black and white finished fifth in 2026, while key tall Toby Thoolen went back-to-back, but this time he held the honour on his own after a tied first place last year.
Mulwala
Senior football: Will Cookson
A-grade netball: Steph Hammond
Will sure cooked, son.
Cookson was far and away the Lions’ supreme footballer of 2026, scoring 146 votes, 60 clear of runner-up Brodie Tyson, adding to the O’Dwyer Medal that crowned him the league’s best.
Meanwhile, it was back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back A-grade trophies for Steph Hammond.
That’s 12 in a row for those not bothered to count, Hammond winning the award rightfully named after herself.
Will she ever lose another count?
Nathalia
Senior football: Jack Duggan
A-grade netball: Ash Cann
After the Purples were named premier, there were more medals to come for defender Ash Cann.
A versatile backcourt weapon, Cann’s defence as GD, GK or even WD was rewarded as Nathalia’s top contributor for season 2026.
Jack Duggan scored the top gong in the senior football, helping the Purples make a preliminary finals run with three best-on’s for Nathalia in the 2026 MFL finals series.
Numurkah
Senior football: Jordan O’Dwyer
A-grade netball: Laura Ryan
It’s consecutive club crowns for Laura Ryan after another strong season in the midcourt.
Jordan O’Dwyer has claimed the senior football trophy after a quality year in navy blue, featuring in the best 13 times.
Rumbalara
Senior football: Kydan Atkinson
A-grade netball: Desmond Morgan
It’s a three-peat of best-and-fairest’s for Kydan Atkinson.
While it was a tough year on field for Rumbalara, the results didn’t slow down Atkinson’s individual performances, kicking 20 goals and earning 13 names in the best across the season.
As for the A-grade netball, Desmond Morgan’s versatility and consistency was rewarded.
Morgan played a variety of roles for Rumba in 2026, the star netballer’s ability to do any job required duly acknowledged with top honours.
Tongala
Senior football: Riley Smith
A-grade netball: Hollie Reid
After nabbing the A-grade league best-and-fairest, Hollie Reid was the favourite to take the Blues’ top honour as well, and was appropriately named as such.
Reid starred in a runner-up year for Tongala netball as a centre or wing attack option.
On the football field, it was Riley Smith that stood above the rest.
