Agostina Traglia and Ian Wright were recently named in Victorian Masters state teams after an extensive trial process.
Both will travel later this year to represent Victoria at the Australian Masters Championships, with Traglia being selected for the over-35 squad and Wright the over-80s.
Victoria’s over-35 side will be playing in Adelaide from September 24 to October 3, while Wright’s squad will compete on the Gold Coast from September 30 to October 10.
Two other River Rats, Zara Thorpe and Stella Keramaris, participated in the junior state championships held in Melbourne last weekend, representing North West Lightning.
Thorpe was the under-14 goalkeeper, the side finishing fifth after posting two wins, two draws and two losses in pool play before defeating Western Wildcats in a playoff.
Meanwhile, Keramaris was in Lightning’s under-16 side, which placed eighth in its nine-team competition.
Keramaris’ team recorded a win, a draw and four losses in pool play before being defeated by Central Flames in the seventh-place playoff.
The River Rat did get on the scoresheet at the tournament, netting a penalty corner in the second half of Lightning’s pool game against West Vic Eagles, a fixture her side went on to lose 4-1.
Former Echuca-Moama player Montana Spicer was in the under-16 outfit alongside Keramaris, and she received the side’s players’ player award for her strong performances throughout the tournament.
All River Rats sides will have another break from Goulburn Valley Hockey Association action this weekend before returning to the field on July 18.
