The final event of the National Road Series for the year saw him faced with tough terrain, and strong winds in the ever changing Tasmanian weather.
A challenge for any rider, but one Costello-Manning loved.
“It was a fantastic experience,” he said.
“We were coming up against some of the best riders from around the country. It was windy, and the road was tough, but it definitely helped me to learn as a rider.”
Finishing 39th overall in the event not only gave him a strong base to launch his 2020 campaign, but earned him further opportunity with cycling team Veris Racing.
Costello-Manning rode as an indivdual in 2019, but competed as a guest rider with Veris on occasion, with his performances earning him permanent opportunity going forward.
The young gun thrilled with the chance.
“It gives you a great opportunity,” he said.
“You get the experience of being a part of a professional setup, and an opportunity to compete with the best riders.
“I'm still pretty new to the National Road Series, I have a lot more to learn and adjust to about the competition, so I'm really excited to get the chance to work with a great team and further myself as a rider.”
Inclusion as a member of the Veris Racing team means Costello-Manning will likely make his way to Belgium in June for a team event.
