It seems that the top three teams are cementing themselves as the teams to beat in the 2025 Winter season.
P*ssheads were the biggest winners.
They gave Recyclables an absolute hammering, beating them 10-1.
Shoeless went down to Locky Lightning in a 9-2 loss, and in the final match, Misfits had a comfortable 8-3 win against Hasbeens.
Joanne Hadley was the player of the round.
Jo threw the highest out shot with 116, and she had the best average of 23.03.
She also figured well in the tons list, throwing 8 along with Will Broucek, however, this category was taken out by Mark Murley with 9.
Darren Manners had the shortest game in 17 darts, but again, Jo was right up there with an 18-dart game of her own.
Michael Bajowski had the only 180.
Four other players hit 90+ finishes; Darren Manner and Max Crilly, both with 96, and 90 pegs were thrown by Andrew Beaumont and Dallas Barnstable.
Darren Manners, Michael Bajowski and Mark Murley all had averages in the 20s.
Division two, round 3
Division 2 had some big winners too.
No Bulls Hit broke their drought with a resounding 9-2 win over Pastoral Pirates.
Ocheholics continued their run of good form, taking care of Tonny Travellers in a 7-4 result and to retain top spot on the ladder.
In the closest game of the round, Bull Hitters won their first match, taking out Pastoral Warriors in a very close 6-5 outcome decided by a very tense teams game.
Both teams had shots to win, but it was the steadying influence of Kodye Clark that got Bull Hitters across the line.
Jason Crilly’s return showed that he’s still got it. He hit an impressive 10 tons.
Top honours, however, go to Karlo Torlao and Brian Crilly.
Karlo led the averages with 17.96, closely followed by Brian on 17.73.
Karlo and Brian also had the shortest games, with 23 darts apiece.
Top peg of the week went to Kodye Clark, who hit a mighty 100 out shot, and also had a 24 dart game.
Geoff Ward and Rob Vesty both had pegs in the 70s. The only 180 in division 2 went to Jodie Crilly.
State Junior Doubles and Singles
Darts Victoria recently ran their Junior State Championships, and I’m pleased to report that two of our local juniors, Caylee Crilly and Ziva Lowden, proudly put EMDA on the map.
Caylee was runner-up in the junior girl’s event and was also runner-up in the junior girl’s pairs teaming up with fellow Tonny Traveller, Ziva.
Monday night grand prix
You will have noticed that the Monday Night Grand Prix League is due to start on August 18.
We’ve created an event on the Association’s Facebook page.
If you’re interested in playing, drop your name to give us an indication of whether we will get a start or not.
Whatever the numbers, we will run some sort of event on the night.
Coaching clinic
Darts Victoria has scheduled a coaching clinic for August 24 at the Geelong Dart Club.
This is the first step in gaining a Sport Coaching accreditation. If you are interested in attending let Gary know on 0429 943 450.
Darts Victoria tournaments
As an affiliated league with Darts Victoria, we are eligible to enter a team into the Darts Victoria Mixed 6's to be held at Melton Dart Club on September 13-14.
Teams are made up of two women and four men.
The State Reserve Challenge is being hosted the following weekend by the Colac and District Darts Association Inc. at the Colac Showgrounds on September 20-21.
Teams are made up of four men and four women, a great chance to put your club team against our reserves and get some association pride in trying to beat all other comers.
It’s open to all associations, Victoria-wide.
This event will be run no matter how many teams.
Both these events are round-robin events, similar to the ‘5-a-Side’ tournaments that are run.
If interested in either of these events, please comment on our Facebook page (emdartsassoc), stating which event you are interested in.
Flyers for both these events are on our Facebook page.
Team photos
I still need teams to send in their photos, as I don’t have many stock photos for the write-ups.
