A countback was needed to determine the winners of the 2025 Deniliquin Golf Club men’s foursomes championships on Saturday.

The title went to Matt Thomas and Leigh Chappell, from runners-up Peter Joice and Chris Thomson.
Handicap winners were Geoff Corboy and Russell Begg on 72, from runners-up Peter Seely and Phil Hodgkinson 73.
On Thursday and Friday last week the ladies hosted their double date tournament, which was an outstanding success with many visitors from surrounding clubs.
Thursday was a two-person Ambrose, sponsored by Druitt Earthworks and Riverina Funerals, and won by Linda Brant and Vicki Brunker on 66.5 from runners-up Susan Mitchell and Nikki Smith 67.75.
Friday was stableford, including a teams event for the Mary Bradshaw Bowl, sponsored by Brian McCleary Accounting.
Bowl winners were Prue Chalmers, Jen Choice, Carol Hardman and Margie Radeski.
There were three grades of singles. A-grade winner was Pauline Davis with 35 points from runner-up Vicki Brunker with 33. B-grade winner was Sarah Aitken with 37 points on a countback to Joan Asmusssen. C-grade winner was Pruce Chalmers with 37 points from runner-up Anita Gorsuch with 36.
It’s been a busy time on the course and that is set to continue.
In the next week we have a stableford event tomorrow, then Tuesday is 3x3x3 stableford, Wednesday is stableford, Thursday is 6x6x6 stableford and Saturday is four-ball best ball stableford.
The infamous Picker’s Cup will be played next Sunday, which is Canadian foursomes.
The club will host the WRDGA Western Riverina Championships on October 11 and 12, with registrations now open. Saturday will be men’s and ladies’ four-ball best ball and Sunday will be men’s and ladies’ stroke.
It will be quickly followed by Veteran’s Week of Golf with four-ball best ball on the Monday, followed by stableford on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
The PGA Legends Tour will be back in Deniliquin with two great days of golf.
Monday, October 27, will be the NSW Seniors Open Pre-qualifier, with the Pro-Am on Tuesday, October 28.
The Pro-Am will see three amateurs in a three-person Ambrose, with a professional golfer playing stroke.
Registrations will open soon, with sponsorship opportunities also available.

Also coming up is the popular Summer Sixes competition, which will start on October 20 and continue until the end of daylight savings, with a break for Christmas and new year.
So get your team organised and register at the Pro Shop.
If you don’t have a team, advise of your interest as an individual, and a team needing an extra player can be found.
On the social scene it will be a big night at the club tonight with the Blind Footy Tipping dinner.
There will also be the usual raffles, with tickets on sale from 6pm and draws at 7pm.
There is also a new spring menu from Café 100, at the golf club, with some delightful new dishes and seasonal favourites.
Dining is available from Wednesday to Friday, 6pm to 8pm.
