Local trio Rose Byrne, Indiana Phillips and Jinaya Nurse have played a part in the Bendigo Strikers’ 2026 Victorian Netball League Reserves season, the side currently sitting in a finals spot after eight games.
Echuca’s Byrne was named as a part of the team’s leadership group as a vice-captain ahead of the season, making her an ever-present, only missing one game and featuring in seven.
Moama duo Nurse and Phillips have played slightly less often, but have still featured in six and four games, respectively.
The Strikers are fifth on the ladder with a record of five wins, one draw and two losses, having gone five games undefeated before their most recent outing.
That was a close defeat to second-placed Hawks Netball and the Strikers’ only other loss came against league leader North East Blaze, which it is only six points behind.
Bendigo faces Geelong Cougars on Tuesday, April 28 at the State Netball Centre in Parkville, where Byrne, Phillips and Nurse will have another opportunity to impress, should all three play.
Other local involvement in the Strikers set-up includes Echuca United’s Eliza Pearce, who is within the emerging squad, which still offers a high-performance training environment and could lead to future opportunities in the reserves side.
