Echuca Blues Fest guitar competition on again

After being unable to proceed in 2020, the Winter Blues Festival has once again launched its guitar decorating competition.

Winter Blues Festival committee member Dave Callanan has urged people of all ages to enter the competition and decorate a wooden guitar cutout with the theme ‘Winter Blues’ to be displayed in businesses around town during the festival.

A workshop was hosted at the Echuca Library on Wednesday, June 30, with about 40 children joining in the decorating.

“[The guitars] really are masterpieces,” Mr Callanan said.

“They're so different to the quality that we've had in the past.”

The blank guitars were made by the Echuca Men's Shed in 2019, but after the festival was cancelled in 2020, the cutouts have been sitting in Mr Callanan's garage unused.

“The competition helps make everything brighter and more alive around town on a wintery weekend.”

There are around 40 guitars remaining for purchase for $5 at Echuca Library.

All guitars must be returned for judging by Saturday, July 17.
