RRV northern region operations manager Barry Green said the upgrade would improve safety, traffic flow and visibility by installing traffic and street lighting, building additional turning and bike lanes and improving the layout of the intersection, particularly for heavy vehicles.
This includes altering the staggered intersection with Old Aerodrome Rd and installing traffic lights on the western side of the rail line to keep traffic clear of the crossing.
“Works are progressing well to increase safety and traffic flow on Echuca's Ogilvie Ave at Sturt St and we thank everyone for their patience,” Mr Green said.
“Throughout the coming weeks crews will be installing traffic lights on the western side of the rail line, applying fresh line marking and reopening Old Aerodrome Rd.
“Reduced speeds of 40 km/h will stay in place while needed so please drive to the changed conditions for everyone's safety.”
