REDHS has also clarified that the drive-through testing clinic will be for people with symptoms. 

"REDHS encourages all community members with the mildest symptoms to get tested. Symptoms include; fever, sore throat, shortness of breath, cough, a runny nose and loss of taste or smell," REDHS chief executive Karen Laing said.

The clinic will be at REDHS on Wednesday, September 2 from 10.00am to 4.30pm, entrance via Pascoe Street.

Two new positive cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Rochester.

The Riverine Herald understands a father and son have tested positive for coronavirus, after the father received treatment at a Melbourne hospital.

In a statement, Rochester and Elmore District Health Service (REDHS) confirmed a number of positive COVID-19 cases in the local community.

“These cases are confined to the same household and the current medical advice indicates there is minimal risk of community exposure to the virus,” the statement read.

“All the positive cases are well and isolating at home.

“The Public Health Unit Bendigo (phuB) is investigating the cases and a small number of staff have been identified as close contacts.

“These staff are self-isolating and will be actively followed up during their period of isolation.

“No patients or residents at our facilities are considered close contacts. Close contacts will be contacted directly by the phuB. If you have not been contacted you are not considered a close contact.

“We understand this news will cause anxiety in our community but please be reassured our priority remains the health and wellbeing of REDHS patients, residents and staff. All necessary precautions have and will continue to be taken.

“An asymptomatic drive-through clinic will be available for the community at REDHS on Wednesday September 2 from 10.00am-4.30pm, entrance via Pascoe Street.

“REDHS encourages all community members to get tested and remain vigilant for symptoms, which include; fever, sore throat, shortness of breath, cough, a runny nose and loss of taste or smell.

“We will update our community when necessary.”

It comes as 113 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in Victoria in the past 24 hours and 12 deaths.
