Annual women’s health information night in Shepparton

Women are being encouraged to make their health a priority at an information night presented by Shepparton Women’s Health Centre this month.

The seventh annual women’s health information night was originally scheduled for October but was postponed due to the floods.

Practice owner Margreet Stegeman is emceeing the event and said it was an opportunity to provide women with information about relevant health issues.

“These forums are important to women around all of Shepparton as we delve into important topics that affect women,” Dr Stegeman said.

“Especially mental health, as we know women in the family have the tendency to go last and it is important to drive the message home so they understand their health.”

Dr Stegeman said she also wanted to ensure women were aware of the services available to them now and in the future.

Guest speakers at the event are all local practitioners with specific areas of focus: breast cancer, chronic pelvic pain and mental wellbeing.

Light supper will be provided after the event by Soroptimist International, Shepparton, and raffle prizes donated from local businesses will be up for grabs.

The event is being held at the University of Melbourne’s Department of Rural Health lecture theatre, 49 Graham St, Shepparton at 6pm for a 6.30pm start on Wednesday, November 30.
