Tocumwal Rural Fire Brigade welcomed the local community to its annual Open Day on Saturday, with families enjoying a day of activities, demonstrations and entertainment at the station.

The event attracted a strong turnout with children and families having the opportunity to explore the fire truck, use the hoses and take part in a range of activities throughout the day.
A jumping castle, colouring competition, barbecue and raffle were among the attractions providing plenty of entertainment for everyone.
Congratulations to Jacinda Lawrence who won the raffle, going home with a voucher for a night away at Buller Wines in a Vineyard View Suite.
Funds raised through the raffle will go towards purchasing a new gazebo for the Tocumwal Rural Fire Brigade.
Brigade members and their families played an integral role in organising and running the event and volunteering their time to set up, assist throughout the day and pack everything away afterwards.
The brigade thanked everyone who attended the Open Day, saying that the community’s support was greatly appreciated.

The Tocumwal Airshow is now Warbirds Over the Murray and early bird tickets are on sale for the 2027 event.
It will be held at the same airfield and is run by the same people but will be bigger and better than ever before.
Delivered in partnership with Paul Bennet Airshows and the Tocumwal Aviation Museum, the 2027 edition promises to deliver the most significant lineup in the event’s history, with the action unfolding over a full two day airshow weekend for the first time on Saturday and Sunday September 18 and 19, 2027.
In 1942, Tocumwal was the largest air base in the Southern Hemisphere.
After the war, hundreds of aircraft were flown in and broken up on the same ground. In 12 months, Australia’s legendary warbirds will roar over the skies of Tocumwal once again. celebrating one of the most historically significant airfields in the country, and cementing it as one of the warbird capitals of the Southern Hemisphere.

Members of the Tocumwal Lions Club will provide a barbecue lunch for the Big Ride 26 this Saturday.
The Big Ride is a Jet Ski Ride from Albury to Goolwa between September 25 and October 3. This volunteer run event raises funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease.
The Jet Skis will be at the boat ramp over lunchtime Saturday.

Tocumwal Optimists have recently supported Tocumwal Public School by donating funds to assist the school’s netball team with transport and accommodation costs in its recent trip to Canberra.
The Optimists congratulate the team on its success and wish the girls all the best in their future match in Sydney.
A reminder that the Optimists are holding a street stall and garden cart raffle this Saturday from at 9am outside IGA Tocumwal.
Great bargains are on offer for homemade produce, plants, crafts and books. Tickets for the raffle are $5 each with first prize being a garden cart donated by Bunnings Yarrawonga plus contents donated by Optimist members. Second prize is a $100 voucher to The Bend Restaurant.
Raffle tickets will also be on sale on Saturday, October 3 outside IGA and on Saturday, October 31 at the Foreshore Market when the raffle will be drawn.

Berrigan Shire libraries have announced their school holiday program for the upcoming school break.
Come along to Tocumwal Library on Thursday, October 1 and Thursday, October 8 from 10.30am to create some Mythical Paper Fidgets and Treasure Boxes.
There is a small fee of $1 for the Mythical Paper Fidgets and $4 for two Treasure Boxes.
Children under eight years old need to be supervised by an adult and bookings for these activities are essential by contacting the library on 5874 2633 or by email to toclib@berriganshire.nsw.gov.au.

The Tocumwal Foreshore Market is back for another season. Following a break over winter, the markets will resume on Saturday from 8.30am to 1pm.

Works on the Tocumwal Booster Main project started on Monday with council’s plan to install about 790m of new water main between Hennessy St and Bruce Birrel Drive.
This is to help improve the reliability of Tocumwal’s water supply network.
Works will continue through September and October, with temporary traffic changes and road closures required at various stages.
Planned water shutdowns will also be required, with affected properties notified directly in advance.
