They should be commended for their work as mums, breadwinners, pillars of support and all the other titles they have to juggle — being a woman is a special title to be proud of, all year round.
March 8 is International Women’s Day (IWD), but for the twin towns, a wonderful event all about celebrating women will take place a little sooner.
To salute the strength of woman and the bonds of womanhood, Imagine The Possibilities is hosting a brunch at Venue in the Moama Bowling Club.
The social event will highlight the contribution of local women in the Campaspe and Murray River areas as part of International Women’s Day (IWD) 2019.
Running from 9am on March 5, there are only about 100 tickets left.
It will open with a Welcome to Country by Aunty Barb before MC April Whiston begins the proceedings.
“This event has been curated to be a real celebration of women, what everyone has achieved in the past year, looking forward to future and how we can achieve balance,” April said.
“We have a fabulous keynote speaker who’s found the fine balance of her busy work and personal lives.
“On top of that, there is a really innovative panel. All the women featured are from a wide variety of businesses and ages with the youngest being a nine year old entrepreneur.
“It’ll be a fun and uplifting morning to celebrate women and their achievements.”
Guest speaker Dr Claire Goodman will give a presentation in line with the IWD theme #BalanceforBetter. As a GP obstetrician, wife, mum, CLRS board member, triathlete and marathoner, Dr Goodman is one busy lady.
Her presentation will not only have you wondering how does she fit everything into 24 hours but will also leave you inspired and motivated for what you can also achieve.
The event include a session dedicated to networking where each participant will directly engage with and get to know at least three other community members. This part of the morning will be facilitated by Kathy Kostaglou.
A diverse panel of guest speakers have been engaged to share their experience and advice to other women. The panel host is Well Soul Studio owner, chiropractor and yoga teacher Ellen McNeill and she will guide this segment with Megan Williams, Georgia Cadd, Jacinta Cannon, Kelli Bartlett and Kelly Shotten.
More than 150 girls and women are expected to participate in the event and benefit by developing confidence, knowledge and inspiration through witnessing the diverse representations of local women and girls in the guest speaker program.
Any funds raised from additional ticket sales will be directed to a community-based charity or initiative directly supporting the advancement of women in the local community.
The major sponsors of the event are Boss Lady Brain, CLRS, Riverine Herald, Echuca Moama Tourism, Campaspe Primary Care Partnership, Campaspe Shire, Murray River Council and Priceline Pharmacy.
The International Women’s Day Brunch will take place at The Venue, Moama Bowling Club on Tuesday March 5 with guests welcomed at 8:30am for a 9:00am.
