The Men’s Table is starting in Echuca this July, with a focus on men’s mental health and emotional well-being. The simple model is based on regular interaction between men in an environment in which meaningful conversation and mutual support are expected and role-modelled among members.
The regional host of the Men’s Table, Bill Karametos, says with under two months to go, it’s now time to let everyone in Echuca and Moama that they are coming.
“It’s healthy to show emotion and share feelings, and belonging to a Men’s Table contributes to mental, emotional and social wellbeing while being a powerful support to individual members travelling their life journeys,” he said.
Each Men’s Table is distinct and has its own personality, guided by the ‘Fundamentals’. These are practical guidelines drawn from the experience of existing Men’s Tables.
All Men’s Tables are supported by the Kitchen of The Men’s Table, a registered not-for-profit organisation formed in 2019 by co-founders Ben Hughes and David Pointon, both members of the first Men’s Tables.
“The first step in joining a table is to attend an entree event,” Mr Karametos said.
“This will give you a good feel for how the table works, you’ll meet other interested men, and you’ll see if it’s a fit for you.”
There is no obligation to join after attending an entree. There are no ongoing fees to join a Men’s Tables.
The Men’s Table entree is on Wednesday, July 8, at the Rich River Golf Club, Moama, from 6.30pm to 9pm.
