It’s no joke; all three are scheduled to entertain the crowd at this year’s Rural Women’s Day in Nagambie on October 4.
Ex-nurse-turned-author Shannon Kelly-White, of the famed online blog Shannon’s Kitchen, donated her cookbook to the first Rural Women’s Day event in 2019.
Now, having just released her first novel, Billie King, which tells a fictional tale of Australia’s last woman bushranger’s quest for revenge, she will be one the guest speakers at the 2026 event at Tahbilk Winery.
Also speaking at the event will be 2026 Meat Business Women Australia Woman of the Year Award finalist Lizette Snaith, of Warialda Belted Galloways notoriety.
Nagambie’s Rural Women’s Day organiser, Elisha Basse, said Ms Snaith had spent 35 years building her ethical beef enterprise, and was a perfect fit for the annual event.
Country-pop-folk singer-songwriter Briana Lee will return to musically entertain the crowd again this year after leaving her mark on last year’s event.
Along with the entertainment, ticket holders will also get a two-course lunch, a beverage on arrival, the chance to win lucky door prizes, and a take-home gift bag.
Ms Basse met Rural Women’s Day founder Jackie Elliot 26 years ago, when they both showed cattle — Ms Basse, Brahman and Ms Elliot, Brangus — at local shows and the Melbourne Royal Show.
Ms Elliot was inspired to create the event after moving to a rural area where she didn’t know anybody.
When the pair reconnected in 2021, they started a conversation about Ms Basse organising an event in her area.
This year will mark the fifth annual Goulburn Valley event she’s organised.
“I’ve always been passionate about rural community and lifestyle; it’s in my blood,” Ms Basse said.
“I love meeting new people and making lifelong friendships.
“I also love throwing a good party, so maybe that’s why Rural Women’s Day gives me such a buzz; maybe I’ve missed my calling, or maybe I’ve just found it.”
Rural Women’s Day events are held throughout Australia, from Ballarat to Darwin to Rockhampton.
Nagambie Rural Women’s Day will be held at Tahbilk Winery, from 11am to 3pm, on Sunday, October 4.
