Echuca Regional Health (ERH) has opened a new dental clinic, relocating its services to the first floor of Lumeah (Building B) at 231 Leichardt St, Echuca.

Echuca Regional Health dental services manager Carmel Beck said the upgrade represented a significant improvement for patients and staff alike.
“The new ERH Dental Clinic provides a modern, welcoming space designed to support high-quality oral health care for the community,” she said.
“The clinic includes five treatment rooms, one consultation room, accessible facilities, including lift access where required.
“The Dental Clinic team includes dentists, oral health therapists, oral health educators, dental assistants and dental students.
“Together, the team provides a range of oral health services and programs for children, young people, adults, and families.”

Mrs Beck offered a reminder about everyday oral health.
“For overall health, you need to look after your teeth and maintain healthy gums”, she said.
“Always remember to brush twice per day using a fluoride toothpaste, clean in between teeth daily using floss or interdental brushes, eat a nutritious diet low in sugar, and see your dentist regularly.”
The clinic operates on a waiting list system, with priority given in accordance with Oral Health Victoria Guidelines to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, children and young people, people registered with disability or mental health services, people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, pregnant women, and refugees and asylum seekers, as well as adults.
Adult and youth dental services require a Health Care Card or Pension Card.
The ERH Dental Clinic does provide care for eligible residents from both Victoria and NSW.
Priority for dental services is given to specific groups as per Oral Health Victoria Guidelines, with a Health Care Card or Pension Card required for adult and youth services. Emergency dental care is provided for all patients, with no fees for children aged 0-18 with a Health Care Card or Pension Card, while adult patients are charged applicable fees.

The clinic runs several community programs.
The Towards Zero program offers free visits with an oral health team at six, 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36 months to help prevent dental decay from birth.
The Smiles 4 Miles program supports 29 registered early childhood services across Campaspe Shire, promoting healthy eating and oral health policies, and offering dental screening and fluoride applications.
The Smile Squad program, led by the Department of Health and Oral Health Victoria, delivers free dental treatment to all Victorian government school students across Campaspe Shire during school hours.
A maternity program is also available for pregnant women who hold a current Health Care or Pensioner Health Benefit Card, offering early dental screening and education during pregnancy.
Emergency patients are welcome, with all emergency patients triaged to get them out of pain as quickly as possible.

Fees do not apply for children aged 0-18 with a Health Care Card or Pension Card, but fees are applicable for adult patients.
The clinic is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm, and can be reached on 5485 5820.
Patients can park on Leichardt St or in the ERH car park, with lift access available within Lumeah (Building B).
Community programs such as Towards Zero, Smiles 4 Miles, and Smile Squad promote oral health and provide free dental treatment to eligible residents.
