Bronwyn Slater’s side netted 11 of the first 12 goals at Benalla Showgrounds and never looked back, twice holding the Saints to two-goal periods, in the first and third.
Echuca led 38-7 at half-time with the four points effectively secured, but it used the second half as an opportunity to push its percentage closer to other top sides Mooroopna and Euroa.
The Murray Bombers would be even more potent in the third and fourth periods, where they netted a whopping 49 goals.
A large portion of that came in the third quarter, Echuca adding another 28 to its total, which included a run of 25 without reply.
A 21-5 fourth period settled the final score at 87-14 for the Murray Bombers.
Echuca’s total was its equal-highest this season and it also defeated Benalla by a combined score of 146-25 across their two meetings in 2026.
An impressive 58 of the 87 Murray Bombers goals were netted by Rose Byrne, who was aided with 29 from fellow goaler Sheridan Townrow.
Echuca has now won seven straight matches, with the ladder incredibly tight at the top.
The top three sides — Mooroopna, Euroa and Echuca — are all on 44 points with an 11-1 record.
The Murray Bombers are third due to having the worst percentage, but their figure is only four points lower than Mooroopna’s in first.
Echuca takes on fifth-placed Tatura next, which should be a much tighter encounter for the Murray Bombers, as only three goals separated the two sides in round one.
