Lockington-Bamawm United fell to a third consecutive defeat in round 12 of Heathcote District Netball League, going down to Mount Pleasant by 60 goals at Toolleen Recreation Reserve.
The Mounts posted their highest score of the season to run out 94-34 winners, condemning the Cats to their biggest margin of defeat in the process.
It was also the second time LBU has lost to Mount Pleasant in 2026, after Stacy Bacon’s side fell by 36 goals back in round three.
Another loss left the Cats’ season hanging by a thread, currently second-bottom and 10 points adrift of the finals places with five matches to play.
Lockington’s post-season aspirations were further hindered by fifth-placed Huntly and sixth-placed Elmore winning in round 12, while Leitchville-Gunbower sits above the Cats in seventh.
LBU’s next few weeks will ultimately decide the fate of its season, the Cats facing the Bombers on July 11 and the Hawks a week later on July 18.
First, LBU has a prime opportunity to bounce back from its heavy loss when it faces bottom-placed Heathcote this weekend.
