After several seasons of struggling on field and court, Barooga Football Netball Club has jumped ship from the Murray league and will play in the PDFNL for the first time since the 1988 season.
The league was quick to include its 16th club in the official fixture list, updating the schedule in the same week the move was confirmed.
The 17-round format will see the action kick off on Good Friday, April 3, with the returning Hawks to take centre stage.
Round one will contain only a single match-up, as Tocumwal hosts Barooga in the standalone season opener.
The league’s other 14 clubs will get their first action the following week on Saturday, April 11, while the Bloods and Hawks take the week off.
Picola United has brought in new faces at the top of its senior football and A-grade netball sides, and the first test for senior boss Jon Varcoe and A-grade leader Emma Greaves will come in the form of a trip to Katunga in round 2.
Mathoura and Picola are both headed into 2026 with new faces at the A-grade helm.
After a rebuilding season on field and court for Mathoura, the Timbercutters have also put their faith in a new A-grade boss this season, Sharon Moon.
Moon’s first assignment will see the Cutters on the road to Deni Rovers, while returning senior coach Adam Bourke will look to build on the foundation he set in his first year at the club.
With sides playing 16 games against 15 opposing teams, there will only be one repeat match-up throughout the season, local rivals Picola United and Mathoura drawing each other in rounds four and 17.
Anzac Day will feature two match-ups, Rennie versus Waaia and Katandra taking on Tocumwal, with the rest of round four to be held off until Sunday, April 26.
General byes are scheduled for the weekends of May 23 and July 4, with the final regular season round to be held on August 8.
The eight-team finals series will begin with elimination finals on August 15 and 16, qualifying finals on August 22 and 23, before semi-finals on August 29 and 30 and preliminary finals on September 5 and 6.
The season will culminate on grand final day on September 12.
