With its disappointing season-opening loss to Deniliquin last week - and its wooden spoon in 2019 - firmly in the rear-view mirror, Moama steamrolled Echuca United by 52 points with a superior fourth-quarter effort.
It marked the first time in 601 days the Magpies belted out the team song.
And coach Luke Eldridge couldn't be happier for his team.
"It was a really good feeling around the club,” he said.
"The guys really deserved it after the hard work they’d put in. We were really rapt."
With crowds at an all-time high to start the new season - as supporters keen to get back to games after the year away - Moama got off to a flying start by kicking the first four goals of the game.
But as Echuca United began to work its way into the game by dominating the next 10 minutes, Moama was left counting its blessings when the Eagles failed to capitalise on the scoreboard.
Kicking 1.5 before Moama slotted the final goal of the first quarter, Echuca United found itself trailing by 19 points heading into the second quarter.
A well-matched second quarter thrilled the masses as United got within two goals of Moama before a similar third term kept Moama's margin within 17 points.
With the Eagles needing a big final effort, they were left shaking their heads as to where it all went wrong, as Moama piled on six goals to one to run out comfortable winners, 18.9 (117) to 9.11 (65).
Following several tough conversations after last week's lacklustre second half against Deniliquin, Eldridge said he was incredibly proud of the way his group responded on Friday.
"We were really disappointed with the way we played (against Deniliquin) so to actually play probably three-and-a-half quarters, we were pretty happy with that,” he said.
"We let ourselves down because we went away from our structures especially our forward entries in the last half.
"That was really something we made a point of this week to make sure we had a really good set-up in our forward 50 and that we stuck with it.
"We mixed up the side a little bit and put some different leaders in different lines and it paid off."
While Eldridge was left to ask the tough questions last week, this time it's up to United coach Adam Sutherland to help his team rebound after its first hit-out.
"It's a tough one to read,” he said.
"I thought for roughly half the game, I was really proud of our performance. But for periods of the game, we weren’t as competitive and hard at it as you’d like to be.
“The synopsis of the game for me was Moama absolutely, and to their credit, capitalised when they had the momentum and were on top and we didn’t."
