Marungi St drainage project completed

Emergency repairs were undertaken at the time to address the immediate issues.

Further research led to the Marungi Street Urban Drainage Project, which began in October 2025 and consisted of several stages.

This included the removal of the entire existing brick drain and concrete pipelines, which date back to 1911.

Construction work for the project included the installation of a new concrete pit and drainage pipeline that meets modern standards.

City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali thanked residents and businesses in the area for their patience during the works.

“The new infrastructure provides confidence to residents and road users, and is an important investment in long-term infrastructure, with the new underground system meeting required demand for generations to come,” he said.

The total project cost was $667,000 and was funded by the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery program.
