After Deni kicked the game’s first goal, Moama punched back hard by booting the next five in a row over nine scintillating first-quarter minutes.
The host ended up kicking six goals to three in the opening term, taking a solid 20-point lead into quarter-time.
A three goals to one second quarter for Moama boosted its advantage to 29 points at half-time, Shannon Keam’s side leading 9.2 (56) to 4.3 (27).
The Magpies’ best period of the day arguably came in the third, where they produced at both ends to effectively end the game as a contest.
Moama added another four majors to its total while keeping the Rams goalless and, if not for some inaccuracy, the Magpies would’ve been up by even more than the 56-point three-quarter time lead they held.
With percentage important, Moama kept its foot on the gas in the fourth, ending the match by kicking three consecutive goals, culminating in a 16.10 (106) to 5.6 (36) win.
Running up the margin to 70 late on was crucial for the Magpies, who are still recovering their percentage after suffering heavy losses earlier in the season to Tongala (50 points) and Cobram (146).
Along with the big margin of victory was Moama posting the highest total of its season with 106, finding its feet offensively, having been a relatively low scorer in 2026.
The Magpies’ defence has been a lot stronger than their attack, holding opponents to an average just less than 75 points a game, and Deni ended up scoring as many points across the second, third, and fourth quarters as it managed in the first.
Moama is sixth on the ladder, level on points with fourth-placed Cobram and fifth-placed Numurkah and only a win off second-placed Nathalia.
Crucially, the Magpies have a game in hand on the four sides directly above them, having served two byes already.
Keam’s side is back on the road next up against Mulwala, which is on a three-match winning streak and sitting third, though Moama could go level on points with the Lions should it win at Lonsdale Oval.
